Brown Drakes Have Started On Silver Creek
Last night, June 1st, was the first night on Silver Creek with Brown Drakes. While they happened late and after dark they did happen. It was not a huge emergence but it could very well be the beginning of the frenzy. Fish should know what they are by now if you'd like to blind cast during the middle of the day or you can wait for the wind to die and head down in the evening.
Make sure to bring your headlamp and 3x tippet.
We are offering access to private water behind the Picabo Angler shop. It's some of the best Drake water on Silver Creek and we are only allowing 6 rods a night in this section. It's $75 a rod. Call 208.788.3536 to inquire. We also have plenty of Brown Drake patterns.
Incidentally, while I did not see it happen, there was a great Green Drake spinner fall in the Nature Conservancy section yesterday. It's certainly worth having a few green Drakes in your box as well. Remember, Brown Drakes do not happen in the Nature Conservancy section, but the Nature Conservancy section does get a moderate Green Drake hatch each June (and it sounds as though that has started as well).
