Silver Creek near Picabo, Idaho

Silver Creek is one of the most famous fly fishing streams in the world. Renown for perfectly timed hatches and world class dry fly fishing, anglers from around the globe come here to test their skill.  Sun Valley area residents and guests are blessed to have this body of water in such close proximity. A spring creek found just south of Sun Valley, Silver Creek offers anglers a chance to enjoy one of the most beautiful places in the state of Idaho, with one of the most wonderful fly fishing opportunities on this planet. Painters, photographers, bird watchers, hikers, and everyone who finds the natural world a part of themselves will find Silver Creek to be a place that can leave you speechless and wanting more. The only thing that rivals the soft light and beauty of “The Creek” in the mornings and evenings is the quality of the trout fishing on her waters.

A true spring creek, Silver Creek waters emerge from the ground throughout the south valley in rivulets that eventually form a gin clear stream teeming with life. Amongst Sun Valley fly anglers Silver Creek is known as a challenge, but also a place to see fish and insect life merging into a daily symphony rarely seen anywhere else.  Dainty mayflies are the predominant insects as they hatch throughout the spring, summer and fall and are the targets of brown and rainbow trout—some of which can push to 30”. This is a Sun Valley river where anglers can truly “set their watch” to the timing of the hatches and rising fish. Silver Creek is a dry fly fishers dream come true.

*Note: Picabo Angler does not take more than 2 guests per guide to Silver Creek, with the exception of highly experienced anglers. In the float tube section we have a 2 guest maximum regardless. This is to preserve the quietude of the river and to keep surrounding anglers experiences positive by giving the public and fellow guides space to share in the beauty and hatches offered here!
